Activist Stress Release

If you’re fighting the good fight against fascism right now, I want to support you.

People are telling me that they’re stewing in anger, looping through worries, or feeling on edge. The stress is piling up.

So I’m offering a limited number of free 1-1 coaching sessions each week for the purpose of metabolizing that stress so you can keep doing the work without burning out.

What’s the difference between this and taking a bubble bath?

This session isn’t just about “changing the channel” in your mind so that you feel better for a while. It’s about releasing your stress so that your body isn’t holding it anymore. You might cry it out. You might shake it out. It might just gently dissipate. You also might find out that you’re not ready to let it go, but even in that case you’ll probably learn something useful about yourself.

The stuff going on is stressing me out, but I’m not sure I’m doing enough to qualify.

All four roles in social change are welcome: the helpers who aid people directly, the advocates who navigate the system to protect people and win rights, the organizers who bring people together in political action, and the rebels who personally stand in the way of injustice.

Why are you offering this? Aren’t you a productivity coach?

Yeah, but long before I was a productivity coach, I was a burned out volunteer leftist organizer. I’ve been looking for a way to make leftist work more emotionally doable for years.

Am I safe to coach?

Unfortunately, the people in the worst situations right now, who are actively fearing for their lives or whose trauma is being triggered, are not a good fit for this offering. Think of this as emotional hygiene, not therapy. The signup form can help you decide whether you’re a good fit.

How many sessions can I book?

Please take one and pass it on. My eventual goal is to learn from doing 1-1 sessions with a variety of people so I can design an effective group version of this, and then you can come every time and destress regularly. But working with a variety of people 1-1 comes first, so book one and share the link with your friends.
